The Nursing council in Germany will assess your qualifications, Transcripts and experience.
It is only after the assessment of your file will you know if you are approved as such or if any additional training or exam is required to be passed. Each nurses' file is assessed separately. In addition to the training hours in each subject, your hours in clinical experience and type of experience are all evaluated to arrive at this decision.
Only if your assessment by the nursing council states, you may have to complete a short competency training course.

Will I start working as a Registered Nurse immediately I move to Germany?
You will start working as an Assistant nurse on arrival in Germany. Once you receive assessment from the nursing council in Germany you can start working as a Registered nurse.
There is no free accommodation. However, we will provide accommodation for the first 8 month.
However, the rent will be paid by you.
Appx. 50% of Germans understand English language. However, working in Healthcare it become mandatory to have good local language communication skills. Also, many elder Germans do not speak English.
You can learn language upto B1 level in around 6 month.
The interview will be done online by the Employer in English. We shall arrange your interview with them.

Your initial contract is for app. 18 month, until your are a German Certified nurse.
Subsequently a full contract as certified German nurse is given to you, with an unlimited timeframe.
You can terminat the contract with an app. 3 month notice period. Termination from the side of the employeer is unlikly and needs serious termination grounds in Germany.
Normally German Hospitals offer live long contracts, until retirement.

Recognition of documents
The nurse certificate you received from your home country must be recognized by the german officials. The authorities will check whether the certificate you achieved is equivalent to a german one or not. If they approve it, you can immigrate to Germany as a nurse. If not, you can go through a period of adaptation to get as much information and knowledge as you need to work in Germany as a nurse. It is also possible to take an assessment test to prove you are eligible to work as a nurse.
The province you will work in is responsible for assessing the recognition of your documents. If they approve it, you can work in other provinces as well.
Language proficiency certificate
B2 or B1 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) are required to work in Germany as a nurse. The language requirement is up to the province you want to move to and their requirement and decision. But you need to be fluent to understand instructions and interact with patients.
Medical tests for being healthy
Applicants need to prove to be physically and mentally healthy to work as a doctor in Germany. It is required to take a medical test with a German doctor to prove the health conditions. Candidates need to be healthy to work as a nurse.
Clean record certificate with no criminal background
Applicants need to prove to have a clean record certificate to work as a nurse in Germany. It is mandatory to provide a clean record certificate from the police in your home country. If you are in Germany, you need a certificate of conduct (Führungszeugnis), and it is enough.
Bear in mind that if you have lived in another country for longer than six months, you might have to provide a certificate from there too.

As part of your application documents, kindly submit any German language certificate as per the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which you may already have obtained. A placement test will verify the level of German language skills, so that you may already start in a more advanced class. As requirement for German visa application, only B1 certificates from the Goethe Institut, the telc GmbH, the Österreichisches Sprachdiplom (ÖSD) and the TestDaF-Institut e.V. will be accepted.

IGA Cover all costs.
IGA pays for the language classes, translation and certification costs for recognition, visa fees and medical check including measles vaccination. If the nurse passes the A2 and/or the B1 exam in the 1st attempt, a bonus of 250 € each will be paid.
The language courses take place as intensive courses and are therefore very time-consuming. Full attendance is required. It is very challenging to learn the German language and work at the same time. However, IGA does not prescribe whether participants can or are allowed to work.
Participants are asked where they would like to work. Based on these criteria, a suitable employer is selected. It is possible to decline a job offer.
Can I be placed together with a friend. In this case, an attempt is made to organize a placement at the same workplace. If this does not work, the placement officers try to find an employer in the same geographical region.friends/relatives/colleagues who are also in the IGA programme?
Upon admission to the programme, applicants will be asked which region/city they prefer in Germany and whether they prefer a rural or urban environment. These preferences are taken into account when looking for a placement in Germany.
